Swiss Federal Railways (SBB) is undisputedly the backbone of Switzerland’s public transit system. Each day, 10,000 trains carry more than a million passengers to their destinations. The company is divided into four divisions: Passenger, Real Estate, Cargo and Infrastructure.

QUO is supporting the Infrastructure division in reaching its ecological goals for its heavily used railway infrastructure. In the future, SBB would like to refrain from the use of glyphosate in its vegetation control activities. Plants growing in ballast beds can compromise the stability of the track and create a safety risk as a result for the nearly 3,000 kilometres of track.

Together, we are now developing solutions to make vegetation control operations environmentally friendly throughout the entire transit network.
