HEALTHY SHAKES FROM CAPSULES
Preparing tasty and healthy drinks in a short time – that is the aim of Nootrie AG, a start-up in the food industry. For this purpose, the young company has developed a device with which vitamin and protein shakes can be prepared per capsule – similar to the Nespresso system.
QUO supported Nootrie in the development of a functional prototype.
FROM THE SEARCH FOR IDEAS TO A FUNCTIONAL PROTOTYPE
Who does not know this – the attempt to dissolve hardly soluble powders, such as broth in cold water? An almost impossible task, especially when the result should not contain any lumps.
Nootrie AG was faced with precisely this challenge in the development of their device. After the results of a first version, which was based on vibration as a mixing principle, were not satisfactory, Nootrie was looking for an experienced and creative development partner. And found it with QUO! In order to achieve an optimal mixing result of powder and water, QUO first carried out a broad search for ideas on alternative mixing concepts. The solution of a capsule with integrated stirring device was chosen as the favourite in the evaluation. Following the detailed development of the concept, a corresponding first prototype was implemented. The functionality of the “stirring capsule” was proven by means of proof of concept. However, improvements are necessary for some of the powder solutions so that the different beverages can be dispensed with consistent quality. Likewise, possibilities are currently being evaluated to produce the established solution economically in order to be able to offer the device to the consumer at attractive conditions.
BROAD KNOW-HOW AND EFFICIENT DEVELOPMENT WORK
In the project with Nootrie, QUO contributed its broad knowledge in the areas of idea search, product design, construction and prototype building. Direct access to workshop space simplified the implementation of the concepts developed in collaboration with the customer. This meant that the developed concepts could be tested quickly and the results immediately incorporated into the further development steps.
